OverviewDesigned for operation in industrial automation applications, the CP932 is a rugged 6-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with an integrated NIC. The CP932 supports 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet on five ports with RJ45 connectors; each with two status LED´ s. The sixth port is optional and connected through a Gigabit Ethernet NIC to the Master CPU of the CompactPCI Backplane segment.On the CP932 the Broadcom BCM5388 Gigabit Ethernet Switch is used. This device is a highly integrated solution. It combines all the functions of a high-speed switch system, including packet buffer, media access controllers, address management, and a nonblocking switch fabric. It complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, and 802.3x specifi cations, including the MAC control, pause frame and auto negotiation subsections, providing compatibility with all industry-standard Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet devices. The media access controllers on the CP932 also support Jumbo Frames which are typically used for high-performance connections to servers because they off er a smaller percentage of overhead on the link for more efficiency.
