OverviewThe SPS-2HS and SPS-3 are miniature protocol converters and multiprotocol packet switches, offering users Frame Relay or X.25 connectivity.Typical applications include:– encapsulating IP/SLIP over a Frame Relay network using standard encapsulation RFC 1490 or RFC 1356 (see Figure 1) – transparent encapsulation of HDLC over a Frame Relay or X.25 network (for example, connecting bridges or routers over a Frame Relay or X.25 network – see Figure 2)– encapsulation of X.25 to X.25 over Frame Relay. This conversion enables organizations to maintain their investments in X.25 equipment and reduce communication costs by migrating to a Frame Relay network without changing their equipment or applications.
