OverviewThe microSERVER is a carrier board for ETX CPU modules, which allows the rapid development of numerous connectivity solutions. Based on the ETX family, the processor is scaleable to the system requirements by simply exchanging the ETX device. Equipped with the ideal CPU board, the microSERVER changes into a rich featured Ethernet-ISDN-Modem-GatewayHub-Controller-Server.Connecting different 10/100Base-T network segments to the intranet or building Communication gateways, the microSERVER is the best choice for such applications. Due to the used standard PC architecture, the wide range of common and special PC operating systems and software can be installed and used on the onboard storage media like IDE hard disk drive or CompactFlashCard™.Up to three independent Ethernet controller enable the system to work as server as well as a simple “intelligent” hub with router capabilities. Beneath all ETX standard interfaces, the microSERVER offers a DIMM-IO socket for further enhancements like BlueTooth™ modules or modems. So building intelligent and scaleable routers or segmenting a network is now an easy task. ETX ConceptThe microSERVER is an ETX® baseboard designed by Kontron. Embedded technology extended (ETX®) modules are compact (~100mm square, 12mm thick) integrated computers. All ETX® modules feature a standardized form factor and a standardized connector layout that carry a specified set of signals. This standardization allows designers to create a single-system baseboard that can accept the present and future ETX® modules that includes personal computer (PC) peripheral functions such as: Graphics Parallel, Serial, and USB ports Keyboard/mouse Ethernet Sound IDE
