OverviewThe Calix E3-48C r2 Sealed Access Node provides 48 VDSL2/ADSL2+ with integrated POTS (VoIP) subscriber ports which may be easily deployed in networks using fiber or copper transport uplinks. The Calix E3-48C r2 supports up to eight bonded VDSL2 ports or two 10GE SFP+ and three GE SFP uplinks. With support for SIP and H.248 VoIP protocols, the E3-48C r2 is a cost effective way to retire legacy TDM DLCs and transform the network from TDM to all IP. The E3-48C r2 provides VDSL2 vectoring on both the copper trunk interfaces as well as the subscriber pairs ensuring the best possible performance over existing copper infrastructure.
Key FeaturesDSL AND POTS INTERFACE DENSITY: The Calix E3-48C r2 Sealed Access Node is equipped with 48 VDSL2 / ADSL2+ Fallback subscriber ports. The E3-48C r2 optimizes subscriber VDSL2 performance by supporting vectoring to ensure the best possible performance over existing copper infrastructure. The E3-48C r2 units support 48 analog POTS ports for VoIP-based services. The unit supports pair-bonding in both ADSL2+ and VDSL2 modes across all 48 ports enabling any port(s) to be bonded with any port(s).INTEGRATED HIGH-CAPACITY UPLINKS: The Calix E3-48C Sealed Access Node is unique in its ability to support 8 pair vectored bonded uplinks or 2*10GE MSA compliant SFP+ and 3*1GE/2.5GE MSA compliant SFP interfaces in a single unit, ensuring the best possible uplink performance over both copper and fiber networks. When utilizing copper uplinks, the E3-48C r2 can be daisy-chained from an E7 or another E3-48C r2. When using fiber uplinks, the unit can be daisy-chained, ringed, or aggregated to a single device in the network such as the Calix C7, E7, or another E3-48C. The E3-48C r2 also supports GPON uplinks to an E7 GPON OLT providing simultaneous support of both single-family and multi-family dwelling applications over a single optical distribution network.The Calix E3-48C r2’s ability to support both copper and fiber uplinks ensures the utmost is service provider flexibility and reuse, eliminating the need to replace a unit when upgrading locations to fiber transport. COPPER BONDED SERVICES/TRANSPORT: The Calix E3-48C r2 enables service providers to deliver high bandwidth symmetric services to subscribers utilizing copper bonding in locations where fiber may not be available. The E3-48C r2 delivers up to 8 bonded pairs per subscriber for high bandwidth services or these bonded pairs may be used to connect to the next E3-48C r2 hop location for transport.VECTORING: The E3-48C r2 supports VDSL2 Unit Level Vectoring as well as System Level Vectoring, through an external Vector Control Processor, to scale vectored VDSL2 nodes up to 192 ports. Vectoring reduces crosstalk to maximize bandwidth ensuring the highest VDSL2 subscriber services over copper outside plant wiring.MANAGEMENT: The Calix E3-48C r2 Sealed Access Node provides GUI and CLI craft interfaces, and SNMP based management as well as full FCAPS management via Calix Management System (CMS).INDUSTRY STANDARDS COMPLIANCE: The Calix E3-48C r2 Sealed Access Node is designed to comply with all applicable ADSL/VDSL2 ITU standards including G.992.1(ADSL/G.dmt), G.992.2 (G.Lite), G.992.3/4(ADSL2), G.992.5 (ADSL2+), G.9923.2 (VDSL2), G.994.1 (G.hs), G.998.2 (VDSL2 Pair Bonding), G.998.1 (ATM-based multi-pair bonding), G.998.4 (G.INP), and ANSI T1.413, interoperating with a wide range of CPE.For GPON access networks, the E3-48C r2, when configured with a GPON interface, supports ITU-T G.984 and G.988 standards.
